Tactic: Chalking
My group, Fighting for Paws chalked on campus in the free speech area, letting students know about our instagram page and about BSL. BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation and we are trying to raise awareness so that it doesn't get passed. BSL has been created to restrict people on the certain type of breeds they get and to place major requirements when it comes to keeping them. We chalked "end BSL" to motivate students to research BSL and see what its motives are. If BSL gets passed, a lot of good pet owners with the certain targeted breed are going to be affected. Pets are not to blame for the way they are, it is the owners who make them dangerous and I think more students will look into what BSL is all about.
When chalking there wasn't a lot of people walking by but many of the ones who did, stopped and read what we wrote. In order to have gotten better results we should have chalked earlier in the day when the free speech area is filled with students. By us chalking with a lot of students around, some might have approached us and asked about BSL.
