START Event: Chalking

My group has been on a journey to inform the people of rising tuition. We have done a few specific techniques to inform people of this information in an efficient manner. One of the techniques we used was chalking. One afternoon our group decided to use chalk to write attention grabbing facts. These facts were chalked in areas where we thought would experience most traffic.

When we first started chalking we hoped to target as much people as possible. Our thoughts of areas that seemed to experience the most traffic were accurate. While we were chalking out specific facts we encountered people reading the facts before we could finish writing the entire statement. This immediate reaction made the group excited for the next chalking area.

We had a list of facts regarding the rise of tuition. Once completely done chalking we noticed people taking the time to read the facts we had left them on the floor. I did notice that people for the most part seemed shocked when reading these facts. Their reaction was exactly what we were looking for. It had meant that we had informed people of something they knew nothing of yet it completely impacted them because I'm sure most of the people that came into contact with our chalking we in some way affiliated with the school system. Although our effort to inform people of rising tuition through chalking I believe that we could accomplish this even more efficiently. If I were to chalk again in the future I would attempt to cover more ground. I believe the more ground covered the more of a chance more people will see it. Also I would like to have acquired more facts to chalk. More facts would be amazing to have just to have some as much information as possible.
