Summary

The article Georgia Activists Confront GOP Rejection of Medicaid as Moral Mondays Spread Across South discusses a protest involving the residents of Georgia. The movement was for the spread and expansion of Medicaid. Although Georgia is the fifth highest in uninsured residents the government leader'smajority Republican have recently have not been pushing towards health care. This movement has caused arrests in the state for civil disobedience and disturbing the peace. I thought this article was interesting because it is shocking to know that people are still being arrested in the south for protesting and fighting for their rights. Much like the nonviolent protesters that exist in the south's brutal history these people are majority people of color who cannot afford health care. Therefore these are the people protesting and being arresting. The irony of the situation is really interesting because history has only changed so much.

The article "Obama Is Trying to Vanish Us": Immigrants Fight Record Deportations with Protests, Hunger Strikes, discusses the issue of immigrants being deported out of the states and back to their place of origin. The undocumented immigrants protest in hopes of being granted a re-entry in the US This protest leads to a huge hunger strike. I thought that this was interesting because of the 750 undocumented immigrants who enter the detention center were being held for civil disobedience. It makes me question is this just that they are being punished which such severe actions or is this necessary to keep our country running safe and smoothly.
