On Saturday, April 26th at 3pm our group, S.A.F.E., students against fuel extraction held a protest on campus to protest Fresno State University investing in Fossil Fuel stocks. Due to an emergency, our group held our protest on Saturday instead of when scheduled for Sunday. Initially our group was worried that the last minute change would greatly impact our protest, but once we realized Vintage Days was going on, we knew there would be a lot of foot traffic. We were able to talk to a few students passing by on Shaw and we positioned ourselves off of the entrance on Shaw and Maple to ensure that a lot of students and people would have a chance to view our signs exiting and entrancing Fresno State. Before doing the protest, I was apprehensive anticipating negative feedback from onlookers but was pleasantly surprised. The people that were interested and made comments were for the most part incredibly positive, which made us much more comfortable and as it continued were able to grow in confidence about our cause.
