Street theater Campaign in Free Speech Area
The theory for non-violent collective action mobilization requires personal commitment. In the first part of our mobilization, our group devise a framework effective to achieve our goal to raise awareness about the injustice of the criminal justice system. The four component of the framework are (1) Diagnosis, (2) Prognosis, (3) Motivation, and (4) Identity. In presenting our message at the time of passing information for picket on campus near the free speech area. We found that being part of social movement requires people to become active in raising awareness and our goal was no different from other movement interested in justice such as to end the behavior of rape, end hunger in our society, stop sex slave, and even raising awareness to the abuse of animals. Many of these movements had the same goal as ours, which is to convince people to join us in a march around the campus ground. How would anyone stick around long enough to join our march was surprising. A coalition of activist groups such as the protection to end animal cruelty and the Raging Grannies compose of women dress like old ladies; they sang song with messages of the exploitation about the inequalities of women lives. Also about the end old stereotypes of women, such as incapable of taking position on important issues ranging from the economy, politics, education and social issues of welfare for all. The movement of the raging grannies was a little bit embarrassing for me, because here we are raising awareness cause and these women wearing dress as grannies singing about vaginas and rape. But effective because the goal is raising awareness about the issues of injustice and in some way raise enough awareness in hope the injustice ends. Regardless, having other groups help our movement in bringing people closer and listen to our message of injustice in the criminal system.
