Social Media Account
In order to spread awareness about our cause for the way the criminal justice system is handled my group and I created a twitter handle. We created the twitter handle under the name @Crim_injustice in which we held throughout the semester by posting criminal justice facts and video links that supported our cause such as, "White collar crime cost the U.S. 400 billion annually." This experience of holding the twitter handle was much different than the other tactics that we used throughout the semester such as marching, chalking, and holding a movie event because this was something that we were not directly contacting people in person to share our cause. I feel that since we were not in direct contact with those who were reading the tweets we posted made it more difficult to gauge whether or not this tactic was as effective as the direct approaches previously stated. Throughout the semester we did experience some difficulties in holding the account because Twitter's servers deleted the account twice; however, we quickly reestablished a new account to continue spreading our cause! I am not exactly sure why the accounts were deleted because we never posted any offensive or provocative material. Overall I feel that the social media tactic can be a very effective tool when used it gets exposed to people with similar feelings toward the cause because they can than re-tweet or share the tweets to continue a snowball effective of spreading the word. I feel that although we suffered some minor set backs with getting our accounts deleted we were still able to react quickly to get a new account up and running and succeeded as advocating and educating others about our cause; therefore, I would still label this as a successful tactic!
