Movie Night

This is where the groups split from the class and really honed in on each of our subjects. As a group we decided to show Earthlings, which we felt was an adequate depiction of what is really going on and not to mention tolerable. We had some other ideas for other movies but we felt as though they may be a little too gruesome to show. At the end of the day we want people to be inspired by our cause, not grossed out and turned away from it. I guess you can say framing played a vital role in what movie we decided to show.

As for what could have been done different… a lot. First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge that I myself was not present when we decided to show the movie. As Dr. Kubal is already informed, I had to leave the country to attend my grandfathers' unexpected funeral. Now that an elephant in the room is addressed, from what I understand not too many people showed up to view the movie which I think is a fault of ourselves. I think if we spread the message out in some more creative ways we would have definitely drawn a bigger crowd. Maybe chalking again, maybe the projector idea that we had in class etc. etc. Another suggestion would be if we brought in animals from the shelter with a speaker to show our guests a living example that is representative of what is actually going on around here locally and nationally to animals. Something similar to what we did when we were tabling. I think bringing in animals from the shelter is one of the best ways to get people interested in treating animals more humanely.
