Human Trafficking: Movie

This project was a little challenging. Challenging only because there are a lot of good documentaries out there that displays the harsh reality of human trafficking. This was also one of the reasons why our group decided to incorporate "Pimp City: A Journey to the Center of the Sex Slave Trade" to our Facebook page because of all its information it displayed on some of the business aspect of the sex slave trade. The movie our group chose was called "Rape for Profit." In order to spread the word of our movie showing, a couple of our group members placed flyers around campus indicating the time and place of our event, while the rest of us used word-of-mouth to spread the word. Professor Kubal was in charge of bringing the pizza and water. Even though, we told people there was going to be free pizza, our turn out was not as we were told by our friends we invited. Our whole group was there along with three others.

After the movie was over we had a discussion about the movie. As a group we summarized the movie and discussed was were the real underlining problems to this social issue. We all had a strong opinion on the matter, but for the most part we all agreed that the victims of these heinous crimes are the ones who suffer the most.

I for one have never seen this documentary, but I'm glad we chose it. It was the type of movie that made you sad, where you want to cry, anxious, and understanding towards the victims involved. It also made me angry for those who contribute to this cycle of violence towards women. I really recommend anyone who can take an interest on this topic, go and watch this film.
