Noam Chomsky on Syria Conflict: Cut Off the flow of Arms and Stop Bombing to Stem Atrocities

 

            According to Chomsky, the death rate has doubled in the last year in Syria and if that's not bad enough the Obama administration has doubled the amount of Special Forces presence in the country. Interestingly, the attacks are eschewed in there reporting towards successful missions however reports show otherwise. Not to mention it's media framing at its finest. Chomsky proposes a stop of flow of arms from Turkey coupled with a real understanding of the oppositions frustration. These people weren't born terrorists. Something in the environment made them that way. Maybe we should utilize our resources in understanding them such as the IRA and Great Britian instead of wasting our resources carpet bombing an entire country.   

 

Robert Mchesney: Facebook's and Surveillance Antithetical to Free Press and Free Society

 

         Facebook is now a threat to presidential elections because of their influence over how people view society as it's constructed. Facebook is accused of hiding topics that are relevant from their "Trending" list in order to push its own political agenda. This is concerning because of how many people use Facebook and it's also concerning because Facebook has so much unregulated power. They (FB) has so much knowledge of the publics personal information and they can do with that information whatever they want. This is framing in it's digital sense. As our society is currently constructed, digitizing is becoming a real threat and a way to nationalize it might be a good idea.
