Human Trafficking: Chalking
Bummer, I didn't get to take any pictures of our group's chalking art. For this assignment, we had to go out to the free speech area and chalk down drawings about our social issue. We really didn't have a lot of time to brainstorm on what we were going to chalk down, so it was a little nerve wrecking not knowing how it was going to come out. Since, our group chose human trafficking for our social issue, we used the brightest colors from the chalk box to make sure what we had to say stood out. As the entire class went out to pick their spot, we chose one of the main corner walkways between the food court and an office that is unknown to me. There each of us wrote our own statistic about human trafficking. So, we actually became 'free style artist' for that evening. Everything we drew and wrote was things we had already learned from researching our social issue that became embedded in our memory like: every 30 someone becomes a victim of human trafficking, stop human trafficking, modern slavery still exist and even one of our group's member Alice, drew a statistic graph of this issue. As we were creating our artistry, several students would stop and read our messages. Some would even ask why we were doing this. Instead of telling students that it was for a class project, we would all respond with answers on our social issue. overall, the chalking project was a great experience , sadly I'm sure, our art was taken off that same evening.
