Reflection on Gender and Race Movements
Framing: The bases of how both the Zapatistas and the Feminist Movement used their language to get the point across is they both emphasize the importance of their history. They set out concepts on their perspectives on they should be treated versus on how they are really being treated. They use the facts of history to layout the way they speak of their cause to the people and to educate how history's past can be changed for the future. With a slight difference of how each organization brought their community together, both had different agendas, but both fighting for freedom of some sort. Both group having the common use of effective language is what used to talk to people, media and those of politics in order to raise awareness to their cause. One great tool the Zapatistas used was the internet. The usage of the internet during that era helped mobilize their movement, making known worldwide.
Resource mobilization: is when an organization gather a lot of people to help get involved for their cause. The key concepts for resource mobilization is how to raise money for the organization to help increase awareness.
Political Opportunity: Is when timing is everything to bring awareness to your cause. Both groups used political opportunity to raise the eyebrow amongst those who were not involved first-hand when it comes to the cause. The women that were bringing up the right for a women to vote here in the U.S, used political opportunity when women for being charged and being put in jail for protesting peacefully in the streets.
