The Irion Jawed Angels is a movie that follows a group of women that were fighting for their right to vote. In the film the main character Alice was the leader of the women who organized and gathered the women to picket outside of the white house. The tactics that the women used were protesting and picketing outside of the white house; however, they were arrested for obstruction of blocking a walk way and put in jail. While in jail the women continued their protest by going on a hunger strike a tactic in which they refused to eat any food fed to them. With the fear of having one of the women die under the jails supervision President Woodrow Wilson was forced to grant the women their right to vote and implement the 19th amendment. The women took advantage of the timing for their movement because they used the time of the World War One; therefore, they knew that the United States was dependent on women for production means. The timing of the war helped the women's activists lead a successful movement. As for the Zapatistas they were a group of indigenous people from Chiapas Mexico who were fighting for equality between the indigenous people of Chiapas Mexico and the Mexican Government. The Zapatistas used the timing of the free world trade between the United States and Canada to start their revolution. The Zapatistas fought for remembrance because they did not want to be a forgotten race. Emiliano Zapata who felt that the indigenous people of Mexico had been forgotten and that they needed to fight for their remembrance and for their rights led the Zapatista. The Zapatistas used the timing of the free trade agreement between the United States and Canada to start their movement as result they were successful in overthrowing the Mexican government.
