Spying, mail, wiretaps, starting fights , spreading rumors, cause dissension within the group, etc
Motivation was fear based orchestrating murder
Government gave info to Chicago police to kill Fred Hampton, they set it up.
They tried to shut down Malcolm X the same way.
Government intimidation of the American Indian movement, and murder. Informants spread rumors and spied. Everybody had guns and were shooting people, within and without the movement.
They would send informants in and act as agent provocateurs, push the movement towards violence, give them guns, provide Ammunition, make a plan...then discredit the movement in the media.
False charges, false pretenses, fabricate all kinds of lies to trick the people.
HUAC: group that went on a witch hunt looking for communists and
socialists...McCarthyism
A lot of people got thrown into a "Criminal Extremists" file. People who are just a part of a social movement, not actually criminal activity.
American Indian movement Wounded Knee, firefight with government who had tanks an machine guns...deputized the enemy of the Indian movement and told them to go kill them all. What happened at wounded Knee was a massacre.
