S.N.A.R.L Survey #5
For our final activity my group mates and I decided to do a survey on peoples eating habits and attitudes towards meat consumption. Our group got fantastic results. After finishing up the survey we released it to our Facebook friends, family, and sent it through blackboard to all of our classmates and got a total of 60 responses. With this many responses we got a solid amount of data. 60% of participants were female while the other 40% were male. About 56 people were between the age of 20 – 25 and the remaining outliers were around 32 and 50, so only a few were from a different generation. 50% where white and 32% were Hispanic, the rest were from different ethnic background i.e.- Middle Eastern, Black, Asian. Some of the big questions we asked were: Do you find meat enjoyable, is eating meat healthy, and is vegetarian/vegan food expensive, all of which had interesting results. Over 40% of people said they did find meat enjoyable, while 10% said they did not, and only 23% slightly agreed. For our next questioned we got a number of different responses. Everyone had a different opinion on whether or not meat was healthy and the results said 55% slightly agreed or strongly agreed while the remaining results showed 20% remained neutral, and finally 25% disagreed or strongly disagreed. Those were just a few of our results but perhaps a way to make our survey better would be to branch out into a older generation to not have a bias of only one generation. Besides that our survey generated great results and proved that social media is a great way to gather information in a short period of time. Our survey was a success but we only needed to reach out to an older generation.
