Mexico: Parents of Missing Children March in the Capital on Mother's Day
MAY 11, 2016
For this news that made the headlines, a protest against the government is taking a stand on Mother's day, mothers of children who have disappeared want justice to be done and to bring their children home. This brings thoughts, of where they could have gone or who took them for what reason, why aren't the police doing something about this. Two mothers named Monica Orozco and Gregoria Ortiz, mothers of their missing sons, want to make their problem known that they are not the only ones that want justice, many other mother's children have disappeared. Without their children there is no point in celebrating mother's day. The framing behind this would be, the language and by seeing the image it looks like their doing what other protester do round up and make the cause known, to draw the attention, and seems like it worked no one is anybody's way and their just families wanting justice being done. Their political opportunity would be, their taking action because one to many kids have disappeared and they are making a stand, and mothers days (Mexican Mother's day) seems to be the right time, it only makes sense, with no kids what is the purpose of being a mother. And the resource mobilization would be, there is yet news to say if the problem has been resolved, but with Mexico's history and the cartels and human trafficking going on, sadly there is no say where their children have gone. One of the mothers named Gregoria Ortiz. "The authorities should make an effort to return our missing, who aren't just the 43, but thousands of missing people. And this figure goes up every day."(democracy now 2016)
Italy Legalizes Civil Unions for Same-Sex Couples
MAY 12, 2016
With this type of news, brings back the day when same sex marriage was legalized, and as others would say "love won". It has been harder in other states to get the law approved and everyone was to live in peace and move on with their lives. But for this story making the headlines The Italian Congress has approved a law recognizing civil unions for same-sex couples, although it is not fully being decided for marriage but it is a step towards history, the congress is making a step but there is still some waiting to do. It also mentioned, just because the same sex is in a union, they will not allow same sex civil unions to legally adopt children. And although it is a little harsh a man named Aurelio Mancuso shares his thoughts. "Today is an historic day, historic like the historic days we had on divorce, on abortion, on family rights. Today, Italy will see a real change, civil rights will take a huge step forward. Our next objective is equal marriage rights. But today we are obviously satisfied." (Democracy now 2016). The political opportunity, was with every other state legalizing same sex union or marriage, Italy has now opened up a little with legalizing a civil union. The resource mobilization would be that it was successful, but the people will work hard to persuade the congress to realize there is nothing wrong with same sex marriage and adopting children. And the language was, they were happy with the decisions, they are happy the congress gave thought to it in the first place.
