Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas Cancel Shows in North Carolina over Anti-LGBT Law
Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato has cancelled their Honda Civic Tour: Future Now shows in Raleigh due to the HB2 anti-LGBTQ law that has dictated the usage of bathrooms for transgender community. During the cancellation the musicians tweeted the reason why they decided to cancel their tour, which formed a framing that developed an awareness to the public addressing the unequal treatment of the LGBTQ community.
Alabama Prison Strike Organizer Speaks from Behind Bars: We Are Engaged in a Struggle for Our Lives
The article goes over the ending of a 10 day strike in the Holman and Elmore Correctional facilities over unpaid labor, poor prison conditions, and the 13th amendment that bans slavery and servitude. The petition was another a way of challenging the mass incarceration in the prison system. In the ending of the strike the leader of the movement Kinetik Justice was placed in solitary confinement indefinitely. The article highlights resource mobilization due to the coordinating of the strike within the prison system. This strike also spread to three other institutions.
