Castro Calls for Return of Guantánamo During Obama's Historic Visit

During a Three day visit by President Obama with President Raul Castro of

Cuba, there were many meetings between the two and press conferences.

The Cuban leader presented greetings to President Obama with full military honors and a parade. The band even played America the beautiful.

The meeting with the notorious Fidel Castro was off the table, but meeting with President Raul Castro is the first step in better relations, lifting the embargo, trade, and human rights, all of which were discussed.

President Castro also added that Cuba wants Guantánamo back. It is presently a United States navel base where suspected terrorists are housed.

President Castro denied that they were holding any political prisoners and said if there were any such thing he would release them immediately.

Castro criticized the United States record for Health care, children rights, and equal pay, as well as the racial problems that is growing in the US. And both presidents acted respectfully toward each other, even with their differences of opinion.

President Obama called the US and Cuba "two brothers that have been estranged". His goal is to bury the last remaining remnant of the cold war with this historical visit. The last United States President to step foot on Cuban soil was President Calvin Coolidge, 88 years ago.

The last day of President Obama's visit he addressed the Cuban people. Talking about how they were brothers estranged and how both countries were slaves and slave owners, now free from slavery and they need to set aside their differences and move forward.

SO a new chapter has begun and perhaps we might move forward in this new relationship with Cuba, maybe even a new ally in the making.
