The fifth movement in which my group C.A.P.E (Citizens Advocating for Pre-trial Expansion) participated in so we can practice different types of movement activism and draw attention on what we are advocating for was our group participating in push polling/surveying. This was already a requirement for the course but I believe that it was also helpful and essential to my group to get the perspective of the community and see if they are aware of the issue of pre-trail expansion. From the data we can see that majority of our interviewee's were between the ages of 18-29. The percentages were for the age of 18-29 were 70 percent with 14 respondents, for 30-39 the percentage was 10 percent and total respondents was 2, for ages 40-49 there was zero percentage because none of the interviewee's we talked to were in that age group, so zero respondents, for ages 50-59 the percentage was 15 percent and the total respondents were received were 3, everyone who fell on the age 60 or high we only received 1 response so the percentage was 5 percent. We could also assume why many of our interviewee's weren't aware of this issue, it really isn't brought up between friends, family, work, or classroom interactions. Also from the data when we asked the question "Are employees exempt from termination of employment if detained for a long time?". The answers were even 9 True and 9 False, so percentage was 50/50 for the question, which could means that either people don't really know what pre-trial is or they have never had an experience of a person in the prison system awaiting trial. What I also found. Many of our respondents were female with 88 percent and 15 respondents compared to the males, which were 12 percent and only 2 respondents. When we asked the question "Do you know that individuals that are detained while awaiting trail affect your tax payer dollars?", we found out that majority of our respondents knew that they were affected by their tax payer dollars. On the category of "Strong Agree" we have response percent of 35% and total respondents we had were 7 individuals, category of "Agree" we had a response percent of 50% and total respondents were 10 individuals, "Neutral" only 1 respondent, "Disagree" only 1 respondent, and "Strongly Disagree" also 1 respondent. What we can see from this data that majority know that they are directly affected by their taxpayer dollars for those awaiting trial and not in the jail system yet. This helped our group very much because it gave us more of an understanding of the community and see what they were and if they don't know much then it increase our awareness to get other more involved with issues like pre-trial or even the social justice system.
