Listening Table
This event, overall, went very well. I was actually surprised about how many people turned up for the event. It was nice to see that people were actually willing to stop and read our facts that we had displayed on our table. Our table had facts such as, the cost of tuition, how much the cost of tuition has gone up over the past five years, and the average debt a student has by the time they finish college. For this event, we had to do several things in order to prepare for it. We had to make various posters, a poster board, and advertise for it before hand. I was able to help out my group, START, by helping organize the poster board and make posters as well. In addition, I was also the one who found the facts that we used during our tabling event. I was able to find facts about the rising costs of tuition as well as how much debt students have. Additionally, I was the one who designed the flyers that we handed out at this event as well. The event was very successful. There was a good turnout and we had several people show interest in our group. We were actually able to get the names and emails of the people who did show interest in our group in order to further educate them on our movement. The things our group could have done differently are probably how we would have advertised for the event as well as make the posters we created easier to read. Although we did not advertise as much as we would have liked, it still was a great turnout. Also, the posters were not very easy to read from a distance mostly because the markers we used were not thick or dark enough. So, next time if I were to do an event like this I would advertise it more as well as create posters that could be read across campus.
