Human Trafficking: Tabling
Part of preparing for the March 4th event was our group had to design a flyer that stated what our social issue message was, statistics on the cause and what our group was about. Not only did our group do a simple flyer, we also decided to make a pamphlet to better state what our cause is. In there, we presented what our group Free All Bodies (F.A.B.) was about, what slavery means, what is human trafficking, who gets targeted, where does it occur: whether on a local, national or global level and what can one do to help someone who is a victim or how to get educated on the topic. Along with the picket signs that each of our group member did. Our table came out to be a success when it came to handing out information on our cause. Even though other groups did well on their tables, I felt our table was very strong and organized when it came to presenting our facts to fellow bystanders wanting to know more information on the topic. I was surprised that not a lot of people knew how much human trafficking occurs, nor did they know that it is considered as modern-day slavery. Also as we were giving out information, I was interviewed for the school's newspaper, which I got really nervous once I knew who they were. One of the only things I wished could have been different was the timing of the event, March 4th this year landed on a Friday, which is a day that not a lot of students attend class nor are there that many classes scheduled for that day. Overall, the students that were on campus did stop by to see what all the commotion was all about and all seemed every interested on each table that had a say on a social issue. I hope to attend another March 4th event.
