Unity Film
For our forth activity the group and I decided to put on a film to commemorate animal rights and Earth Day. The film we watched was titled Unity; it is a sequel to its predecessor Earthlings. While the film touched on several key points of humanity one of its underling issues was the consumption of meat. The film claimed we as a species needed to stop our immediate consumption of meat in order to coexist with animals and to save the environment from heading to certain disaster. Before the date of the film my group mates and I decided to advertise the film and draw in a crowd. We started by making fliers online and have each one of us revise and put a vote in to see which would work best. Afterwards we went around the social science building and began to post up the fliers and also took to social media to invite our friends and family. As the day approached it turns out no one showed up. As disappointing as it was my group mates and I watched the film. While no one showed up it still didn't change the feelings and knowledge we all took from the film, something indeed needs to change in order for the human race to live on for future generations to come. A few things we could've done better are post all throughout the campus and maybe have some professors announce to their students about the film. Even having some from of food, i.e. vegan pizza and other vegan foods to draw people in not only to show them a vegan lifestyle but also to give them food in order for them to get a feel for veganism. Overall the film was inspiring and moving. Gathering a crowd for the film requires much more work. Having bigger groups could have multiple people reach different parts of the campus and cast a greater net to bring more people together.
