Human Trafficking: Social Media
For this part of our project, our group set up a Facebook a little over a month ago, about our group F.A.B. Our goal for this Facebook page was to post statistic of this issue, facts, and videos to bring awareness about human trafficking. Each group member invited all their Facebook friends to like and visit our page. We all had to take turns taking over our F.A.B page for seven days and post videos and statistic about a topic of our choosing, but related to human trafficking.
At first everyone seemed interested on our cause and what we were about. What I learned about people's reaction on human trafficking is, most had no clue that modern-day slavery still even existed until our group put it into perspective. We posted video clips on a documentary called, Pimp City: A Journey to the Center of the Sex Slave Trade. We did get a lot of response by people viewing the videos, but no one commenting on the matter. As the days went on, we did in fact get people to like our post and view our videos, but again no comments. If anything we would average out about fifty people liking our post. It is fair to say that we did get our word out there and continuing to do so by not bringing down our Facebook page. I know by leaving it up, someone, somewhere will gain a little more knowledge on human trafficking and know the signs to help someone else in need.
As I mentioned earlier, our Free All Bodies (F.A.B.) page is still up. I am inviting everyone to go and give us a like and maybe comment on a few of our post. Hope you can become more knowledgeable on our cause and become more aware of this social issue.
