Film: Unity
On April 21, 2016 our group set up a movie screening called, Unity. This took place prior to Earth Day, demonstrating the importance of our connection with the universe. In order to promote this film, our group and I posted flyers around our campus, as well as forwarding the event to friends on facebook. The whole idea behind the film was how "ego" has destroyed our relationship with the people and things around us. We have often became ego driven, selfish, and only concerned with our own greed. This film demonstrated the idea of consciousness. We have all became overwhelmingly disconnected with the true importance of life. Due to ego, we have destroyed the things important to us in simply surviving. For ex: Destroying our green environment for selfish reasons, killing animals for their natural resources (meat, fur, etc.) We have placed ourself ontop of the pyramid forgetting how everything beneath us is what helps us, be. Ego has also driven the human race to turn against each other as well. For example: Wars over drugs, money, fame, greed. We have become so disonnected that I feel we will soon be the cause to our own human extinction. The film has helped raise the importance of consciousness with our inner beings as well as everything around us. It is about respect, love, and understanding. Every little thing simply wants to survive as it fights for it's life just as we humans do. For example: You can follow a little ant around with your finger and watch it do anything in its being to avoid you crushing it. We all have this natural idea of survival, and simply wanting to BE. No one person, or species is greater than the other in the idea of consciousness or survival. We are all ONE and need to find balance to coexist.
