Fights break out over first gender-neutral bathroom in L.A. Unified School District

Santee Educationn Complex, part of the Los Angeles Unified School District opened a gender neutral bathroom.  Students from the Gay/Straight Alliance organized and raised support for the open gender bathroom. The bathroom is open for all students to use and provide a place for transgender students to feel comfortable.

On Tuesday, protesters from Westboro Baptist Church, stood on the sideway across the street with a bullhorn chanting anti-gay messages and held signs saying "You're going to burn in Hell Santee".  This is the same group that protests military funerals objecting the military acceptance of openly gay recruits.

Sone of the students engaged against the protesters throwing water bottles and fruit, and a fight between students and protestors broke out.

In response, one teacher, Rong  Gochez, contacted Union de Barrio, who drove up Wednesday to counter-protest the Westboro Church protest.  But Westboro must have returned to Kansas after their one day protest.   Union de Barrio and students held a peace rally together instead of counter protest.

The students Gay/Straight Alliance organized for limited change for the a bathroom that was a safe place for all, especially the transgender students.

The protest by Westboro was an political protest. The  informal group response by the students, becoming heated leading to the a convergent crown, leading to hostility and a brawl between the adult protesters and the ighschool students fall into a "Non normal behavior" being faced with such a radical group as the Westboro.   The mobilization of students with the  group, Union de Barrio, that, was an organized convergent.
