Ashley Holmes

Week of March 24

Summary

In the article Italians Protest Obama's Record DuringRome Visit the article discusses Obama going to Rome Italy to meet with the pope and protesters gathering around for the meeting to criticize Obamas policies. The reason why I choose this article is because I thought that it was interesting that the residents of Rome would criticize the president's actions during the time of his visit. Just because they don't agree with his policies does not mean that he should be unwelcomed into their country. Leaders in different places of the world do their jobs in different ways; I don't think they should ban him because of his views but simply disagree with his actions. In history we see protests as a way of life and maybe there are more important issues that should be protesting against

In the article Why Did FBI Monitor Occupy Houston, and Then Hide Sniper Plot Against Protest Leaders? , the article discusses why the FBI withheld information about the sniper plot against protest leaders in Houston Texas. This is another example of how the government attempts to hide or reveal vital information to the public. This is interesting because although the government has been tampering with privacy rights of its citizens and not allowing us to have any privacy they are holding information that could help with the investigation of the sniper plot but choose not to. It is ironic that the government wants what they can't give us. It also makes us wonder whywould they hold information like this.
