For this weeks assignment we had to find two articles in which we found most relevant from Democracy Now. The first article I found interesting was called "Ex-Klan Member Charged with hate Crimes in Kansas Jewish Center Shootings", what this article discusses was the suspect deadly shootings at Jewish centers in Kansas will face hate crime charges. The suspect Frazier glen miller, known as a neo-Nazi group from the Ku Klux Klan is accused of shooting three people dead at a Jewish community center and retirement home. At the white house, President Obama paid tribute to the families that died and spoke against hate crimes. Family members remembered 14-year old Reat Underwood and his grandfather who also died in the attack. It is a shame how hate crimes happen to innocent people and how a young man who hasn't even lived a full life have to pass away. Violence is not the answer and society has to come together to have these hate group out of our society because we do not tolerate ignorance and intolerance.
The next article in which I also found interesting was called "Federal Agents Cede to Anti-Gov't Nevada Rancher After Armed Standoff". Cliven Bundy a Nevada rancher declared victory after hundreds of armed supporters backed his standoff with the federal government. Bundy's cattle had grazed for years under the federally controlled land for years and now making him pay government fees but Bundy hasn't complying and refused to pay the fee. The government shut down the Interstate 15, leading to a standoff that ended with the government backing down and releasing the seized cattle. Bundy urged state sheriffs nationwide to join his cause and take away the guns from the U.S bureaucrats a local police official said the Bureau of Land Management wanted to avoid violence and public harm.
