This week I was more interested in reading about racism in the United States.  An article that caught my eye was The Grand American Tradition of Violent White Supremacy.  Recently another U.S. shooting spree has left bullet-riddled bodies in its wake, and has gotten attention. Former leader of a wing of the Ku Klux Klan Frazier Miller has been accused of killing three people outside Jewish community centers located in Kansas City, Kansas. As Miller was hauled away in a police car, he yelled "Heil Hitler." Different from the Islamic groups that the United States agencies spend tens of billions of dollars targeting, white supremacist groups enjoy comparative freedom to spew their hatred and promote racist ideology.

In 2009, the U.S. department of Homeland Security (DHS) had a study on right-wing extremists in the U.S. The finding of the study revealed that, the economic downturn and the election of the first African American president current unique driver for rightwing radicalization and recruitment. It controversially suggested military veterans return from Iraq and Afghanistan could potentially be recruited to join hate groups. Mark Potok who is a senior fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which has been tracking right-wing hate groups and Glenn Miller for years. Potok stated, a problem with DHS is particular report on the right wing was leaked to the media in April in 2009.

The other article I choose dealt with the same notorious white supremacist Frazier Miller. In the article Was Kansas Shooting Avoidable? White Supremacist was Ex-Informant with Criminal Past & Hateful Views discusses how Miller has openly railed against African Americans and Jews. Frazier was a founder and former "grand dragon" of the paramilitary-style Carolina Knights of the KKK. In 1986, he was sentenced of violating the terms of a court order settling a lawsuit by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Miller has served three years in prison on weapons charges and an assassination plot, yet evaded a longer sentence after testifying against other white supremacists.

It's difficult to believe that there are people like Frazier Miller who are notorious white supremacist who like to harass people of color and the Jewish. I people racism it's one of the most terrible things in this world. It's not good to have all that hatred towards people who are different from you. Hatred it's never good, because it tends to consume the person and start taking over their lives.
