Men for Equality of Women: Picketing Event

During the picketing event I came a little later and barely made it in time for the walk around campus. I remember the different chants that were being made during that time. There were some very loud individuals within the picketing group that day especially one of the guys that was in our Social Movement class. It was funny how at one point of the picketing some of the students in the other Sociology classes was fighting over who wanted to hold our sign that we made for women's rights. In addition to that I was also amazed at the amount of people that were at the event picketing with us. On that day it was extremely hot, but nonetheless I had an extremely fun time. I never thought that in my life that I would being doing these type of outdoor activity in this social movement class. Picketing is one of the events that I felt really helped me step out of my comfort zone, because I'm quite an introvert. Even at first when I started to chant and raise my voice for my cause I did not feel really confident probably because I was really nervous and this was my first time doing this type of event. During the event I started observing students and people around me as they stared at us and at first I felt kind of nervous, but realizing that with such a big group I should not be scared to fight for my cause. In addition, I understood that people still need to be aware of women's inequality that still exist not just here in the United States, but all over the world. I'm very proud of myself that I participated in this event.
