First I witnessed a performance by the Raging Grannies. This took place right in front of the library and there were a couple tables set up for all the organizations that we would be sticking about. The Raging Grannies were introduced and they were a group of older woman probably around 10-12 of them and they sang songs about political issues. The one that I remember the most was the uterus song. Before each song there was a short summary about the topic they were going to sing about. This topic was about a woman's reproductive choices and how she might need to incorporate it. Yet the word uterus stirred up the floor and it was now banned to say the word. They were a very entertaining group of woman to say the least as their songs included catchy lyrics but they were also a show as they would cuss and stick up their middle figures which caught me off guard. The way they sang about the issues really showed the passion for the topics they were preaching about.

Although it was very entertaining to watch this group of elderly woman perform it was also very insightful and inspiring to see them be so passionate about these issues. It goes to show that we as the next generation of voters and leaders really should be more involved in what is going on around us. I believe in on of there songs they said something along the lines of how they can't retire because we are not doing anything to change the problems around us. Even if this was a little sarcasm it is true, it goes to show how important it is to stand up for your beliefs and not be afraid to voice you opinion and let it be heard.

The next event I participated in after the performance from the Raging Grannies was the march. When we showed up to the booths there were already pre-made signs and I chose one that said "save the puppies". This was regarding the issue of overpopulated dogs as people are purchasing them instead of adopting them. Other signs were regarding the wage increase that the teachers will be fighting for on our campus. During our walk people were yelling this like "Free your body" and "Adopt don't shop". We started our march  in front of the booths then walked out towards Joyal hall then went down Shaw then went back in during the Kreman education building around the dorms then ended back at the booths.  I have never been apart of a march so it was a different experience there were students from my class but there were also other people in the march then we devoted to the causes and it was nice to seem them so passionate about these causes.

Before I participated in this march I have more of a negative view of people who participated in marches as people who were just loud and obnoxious. But know I can honestly say I respect people who are concerned enough to voice their opinions and spread awareness for their causes. I think for future marches it would be nice to be more informed snd make it even more of a learning experience. Before seeing the booths I didn't really know what the march was going to be about. I also think it should be made more of an important point for the students to go talk to the people at the booths so they can know more information about what they are standing up for. It was a good experience overall though.
