Summary – Democracy Now: The Panama Paper: Could Pirate Party Co-Founder Birgitta Jonsdottir Become Iceland's Next PM?

In an interview with the host of 'Democracy Now' Brigitta Jonsdottir explains; how ice lander people were adamant against displays their grievances after finding financial corruption in which the Prime Mister of Iceland was involved in tax evasion in off-shore accounts that he had failed to disclose prior to entering into high office. The corruption of money in politics which is something, which Icelandic people have been trying to remove from their Banking system, as to prevent outside political influence. In addition for raising awareness for this kind of political influence, she is grateful to people who had the courage for the release of the leak of the Panama Paper that was fundamental in exposing the corruption. However, these types of information leaks it is seemed as nation treat and government do not like information being put out by anonymous sources. Which brings the subject to the influencing power of the United States to monitor telecommunication outside its borders. Because having such knowledge represent an imminent danger to democracy between  other nations and United States. Furthermore, Jonsdottir expresses her concern if Donald Trump becomes,  a proposition that would certainly endanger that trust between nation. Because Donald Trump as President could use private information from a citizen. She thanks, The release of information to citizen,  whistle blower  who had the courage to put their live in danger and could produce transparency for national unity in policing white-collar crimes. And she feels that whistle blower is in need of effective laws to prevent government persecution. Jonsdottir as part of the Pirate Party would suggest that there are supporters of Bernie Sanders ideas of changing the system.

For the people of Iceland going through the ordeal of exposing the corruption of the  Prime-minister shows that they are engaged in political resource mobilization. By removing the corrupt leader, the, or she is able to weaken the political union, thus allowing for new political individuals to political support against the establishes majority who believe that everything is fine. Therefore, the plied of the silent majority goes unnoticed and allows for corruption to eat away at the democratic policy for the nation.  http://www.democracynow.org/2016/4/6/panama_papers_could_pirate_party_co
