Chalking

The cause for our social movement was Human Trafficking. Our purpose was to bring out more awareness on this issue since Human Trafficking is considered to be a hidden crime since not a lot of people are aware of how big of a crime it really is. We wanted people to know that human trafficking does exist and how it's the second world's fastest and largest growing crime worldwide. For our first activity every group was to go to the free speech area and do some chalking on their cause. Our group did a good job on using bold colors and writing down eye catching statistics. I wrote down in bold "⅓ of teens will be lured toward prostitution within 48 hours of leaving home." I also traced my hands and wrote HELP ME since human trafficking portrays slavery. One of my classmate did a bar graph on how many girls get trafficked per day. Her bar graph stood out the most and as students walked by the free speech area they noticed the bar graph right away. Which let them know how big of a crime human trafficking really is, incase they didn't know. Another statistic we had wrote down was 80% women and children are victims of human trafficking. During this activity many students walking by the free speech area would stop by and ask us what organization were we with. We would just respond  back to them that we weren't part of any organization that it was part of a class activity. I thought it was cool how a lot of students would stop and ask us if we were part of any organization because they were interested in our cause. That proved how just by doing this small activity it was able to bring out awareness not only to our cause, but to the other causes as well.
