Social Movement Tactic Write Up
Protesting is a great tactic to spread the message about a cause. The SAFE (Students Against Fossil Fuel Extraction) marched towards educating people about climate change. The march focused on divesting Fresno State University from fossil fuels and into renewable energy. Our group gathered the signs we have already created for past marches. Signs included statistical statements and plausible solutions to the on-going problem. We started the march on Shaw and Maple Ave., walked back and forth the block. We talked to a few people regarding our group and our cause. We also asked for opinions of interviewees. Some were very enthusiastic about the cause while others were not at all. It amazes me how we have a split spectrum of opinions here in the Valley. The group has made a great progress over the semester to let the public know about how important taking care of our planet is.
