Event Summary: March fourth on March 4th
The event that I participated in was a march for many different causes; the group that I was involved in was the "animal rights" group. This was my first time participating in an event that included a march. To plan for the event, my group organized posters with animal statistics and animals who had been abused. To let others know about this event our class made flyers that had the time, date, and location. Our flyers were made to peruse other students to come attend the event. Each group made their own protest signs, and we all had a table to be able to share information with those students passing by. The event took part in the free speech area, which I thought was a perfect area. During the event we had refreshments, desert and other snacks for those students that were passing by. My favorite part of the event was the entertainment we had. We were able to get a group of Fresno State students dance for us while singing for a cause. We also had the "Raging Granny's" attend, and they performed a few songs to us. It was very nice to see a group of older women have a great interest in not only women rights but also having concern for our causes as well. Once the " Raging Granny's" finished performing all the groups cleaned their tables and headed toward the outsides of Fresno State to start out march. We were all holding big protesting signs, with out statics and information. I was surprised by the positive outcome we had during the march. I think we had a lot of people notice what was our message, and many students who seen our signs even offered to march with us. From this experience I would definitely do this again.
