20 Years Later, Rwanda Commemorates Genocide the World Ignored Monday April 7, 2014
This was about the 20th commemoration of the genocide in Rwanda. This happened in April 6, 1994. There was a campaign that lead to the deaths of an estimated 800,000 people that lasted about three months. Men, women, and children were killed in the pre-planned campaign. The US had not acted upon this genocide. Bill Clinton talked about how they had not done anything about the massacre but that they could help them have a better future without fear. In Rwanda, there were speeches, there were no people out but in the stadium where there was crying and speeches. Some people were escorted out to meet with doctors if they needed help to cope with their loss. There are countries that don’t understand what the genocide was, and don’t speak its truth, was what was said in French during one of the speeches. a person escaped and he saw people killing and dying. The people in Rwanda needed help, and hope that something could be done.
"Science Does Not Exist on Capitol Hill": Rep. Peter Welch on House GOP’s Climate Change Denial Tuesday April 8, 2014
This was about how the House of Representatives passing a law that forced government agencies to stop studying climate change and to focus on severe weather but not to explore the cause. Science does not exist in Capitol Hill. If they do something about climate change it would be good for the environment but it will create jobs. And he won’t convince his colleagues that climate change exists, but they do believe that if you reduce usage of fuel, you will save money and create jobs, and possibly build the economy. Nuclear power plants are not the answer to the issue of climate change, especially because we are struggling with nuclear waste. They are economically unjustifiable.
