Race and Gender: Tabling
I remember tabling that day was really hot and exhausting. We were the first table nearest to the library by the free speech area. I remember that at that time there were times where we were not prepared and did not have the information needed to explain our cause. We were going back in forth to the library to print out the statistics. We also included some treats for people to grab while they came by to listen to our fight for women's equality. There was a good amount of both male and female students coming to our booth to get to know our cause. Many of the people that we were informing only knew a little bit about the wage gap and the other facts of inequality that women all over have to face even nowadays. It felt so great when I realized that the people that we were informing wanted to know if our group Men for Equality of Women was a club, which it was not. They insisted on joining and we took down there name and email after explaining to them that we were doing this as an assignment for our social movement class. It was a really great experience just knowing how amazing it felt fighting for women's inequality. This event was really beneficial, because it was a new experience for me and it was putting me out of my comfort zone. Overall, I enjoyed the tabling and would recommend everyone to join so that they also enjoy the fun experience of fighting for a cause and the experience of tabling.
