Picket Signs

In order to spread our cause of how the criminal justice system needs to be revised or is often times very unjust, my group and I the Criminal Injustice System created picket signs to hold during protests. Two days prior to the big March Fourth event held on campus my group and I got together in class and designed picket signs that had criminal justice facts, slogans we created, and images we painted on them such as handcuffs and money. The money painted on the sign also and an equal sign (=) in order to spread our groups' beliefs on how often times within the criminal justice system you can buy your way to freedom. This was a tactic that I was really excited about doing because I have grown up in a family that worked in grocery and seen  how my mother used to create her picket signs when they would go on strike; therefore, this tactic really hit home for me and gave me a sense of pride when creating my signs and posters. My group and I which only consisted of four people in total created about ten to twelve different signs in hopes that others at the march would join us and participate in supporting our cause. I was extremely happy to find out that this in fact would occur because some fellow protestors also shared our beliefs and used or signs! I feel that this was a very effective tactic because the signs were big and bright; therefore they really drew a lot of attention to them forcing bystanders to read our clause and hopefully plant the seed in their mind about the flaws in the criminal justice system. If I were able to go back and change anything about this tactic the only thing I would change would be to have been able to make a big banner with our groups name "The Criminal Injustice System" to lead the way for our fellow protestors. I feel that this would have really caught the eye of the bystanders and really draw more attention to our cause. Overall, I was very pleased with how this tactic turned out because I feel it was effective and did exactly what it was supposed to do by drawing attention and spreading awareness about the flaws within our criminal justice system.
