The overall theme of the movie seemed to be that black people, although citizens, were not really free in the United States. The movie bombards you with all of these statistics that show how black people represent a disproportionate amount of the prison populace nationally… how black people are more likely to get shot… how black people are etc. And to be honest, the movie really does have a point. From a perspective, a white guy in America can live his entire life and become successful without ever having to interact with a black guy. However conversely, a black guy living in America will never be successful without having to interact with a white guy at some critical point in his life. So the question really becomes, who is living in who's' world? Unfortunately for black people they are viewed as black people and not as just people. This is where the problem is rooted and that is the fight of BLM. Everyone should be treated equally just like the constitution says if you're a law abiding citizen and also just like god said if you're a religious person. I mean I really don't understand where the confusion comes from but never the less humans never cease to amaze. In the BLM case they utilize something old school social movements never had a chance to. Now a days, social media is one of if not the most important tool. Social media is used in a variety of ways such as videos, hashtags, and simply spreading "the word" around the world in a quick and efficient way. Social media is a perfect example of resource mobilization and political opportunity.
