Black Lives Matter video_ Social Movement tactics

Course: Social Movement.

The start of the Black Lives Matter Movement was a coalition of feminist activist. The goal of the movement at first was to raise awareness for the LGTB community in hope to reduce discrimination on grounds of gender bias. The community of the Black Lives Matters took on the challenge to expose the endemic discrimination on the African American community. The lack of justice and economic opportunity for many African American was tolerated for much of the greater part the last century. However with the death of Treyvon Martin from Florida, Tymir Rise in Baltimore, and Michael Brown in Ferguson Missouri and many other who die as a result of police used of excessive force. In many of the case in which police were caught on camera did not seem to matter much. The community however did care and took action in challenging the perception that police are allowed to kill on any grounds, police killing black people is acceptable did not seat well with the families nor the community.  The Black lives matter found its support from the exposure to content the public was able witness. Photos that show the brutal way that police used against the African American community and thus many of the pictures taken by photographer help explain the problem of discrimination it did not change much unless there was action that demanded reform. Political opportunity means that people can support political leader who are willing to support their cause. Then the participant can show their support by displaying arts and other form public theater to demonstrate that there is a problem. They often use tactics by mobilization of resources from the media, to social media, newspapers, and television. The movement then can display their grievances in a public forum for people to see that there is a problem.  The goal of the raising awareness brings people together in support of the groups. The goal is to collectively change a the persecution of African and maintain unity on all side of the issues of race in America. The Movement most powerful tool was to show photos of police violence on the community and violence that erupted with police tactics intended to reduce damages. In this way the black lives matter movement can display a greater sense of the problem.
