Zapatista

The Zapatista (Indian Rebels) army lead by Subcomandante Marcos shows how framing, resource mobilization, and political opportunity are key elements of they're organization. While Mexico was being brought into the first world through globalization the United States was bringing. Thousand of indigenous people came together for their voices to be heard. Comandante insurgente Tacho, frames their demands by stating their army was fighting for the basic needs of society such as, education, a place to live, land, etc. They continue to press on for their needs with an army showcasing resource mobilization by gathering thousands of Indian Rebels and taking over four Mexican cities to make their voices heard. Being in the political sphere was not always they're intent explicitly mentioned by Tacho. However, when the Mexican government was not compiling with their demands they began to form their own government. After fighting with the Zapatistas the Mexican army called for a cease-fire and agreed to negotiations with the Zapatistas.

Feminist Movement

The feminist movement started as fighting for women's right to vote. Through framing, resource mobilization, and political opportunity they have gained rights and raised awareness of what it is to be a feminist and continue to endeavor in their fight for equality. Dating back to women's suffrage (late 19th century) they used resource mobilization to draw in crowds of women to peacefully assemble and protest for their right to vote. In garnering women to their cause they began to become increasingly political causing political opportunity to form. While fighting for suffrage they would make political demands causing the President of the United States to stop ignoring them and focus on their demands. Through framing they would have a leader explicitly state the issue at hand. Overall, the feminist movement is one that continues to be fought and still gains moment today, as new issues are being made aware.
