International Woman's Day marches and Protests

Started as a socialist event, Working Woman's party. Women from around the globe are protesting and is celebrated on March 8th by the U.S. And Europe. It covers, suffrage, politics, parenting, any issue including all gender equality.

With the theme of Human Rights, this year, they are focusing on violence to women and children, globally. People from the middle East and the Philippines are marching in solidarity. This years theme is "#Pledge for Parity." Several countries are not making much progress in the treatment of women. Progress has even slowed down.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, of India wanted only females to speak at the rally but there were not enough women present to finish it. Some male supporters in the Philippines wore womens shoes to show solidarity. One in Three females experience violence every couple of minutes, while young girls die every ten minutes.

In California, here, we are sheltered, spoiled, and don't see the autocracies going on around us. Fresno is a diverse population, California is a diverse population, and we are ahead of the World in the way women are treated. That goes for diversity in other areas too, GBLT, religion, ethnicity, culture, etc... California, not without it's own problems, but it is still one of the more open minded, harmonious places to live.

Today the serious problem is sex trafficking. Women are rallying together to provide shelter and resources for kids coming out of that, off the street. They go looking for these kids and try to save them. It's hard to know how to help and be involved but we can't just sit back and pretend the problem doesn't exist.
