Janeth Ramirez March 9th, 2016 20

On Friday March 4th we had a march to attend so we can get an idea of how it is to be an activist. The march did not have a specific topic so anyone was welcome to join and say what they wanted to say as long as it was appropriate. I got there at 12:50pm to see the Ragging Grannies perform. It was very interesting to see and listen to their music lyrics about how society is in the USA. One of their songs was about rape and how people think the rape is okay if women approve but although the women approve rape it does not make it right. That Is what I got from the song or maybe I heard wrong. Another song was about how a man that was in congress said the word uterus and got in trouble for saying it in public. The song the grannies were singing was basically saying that it is okay for police to mistreat black people or say that rape is OK if we approve, but people get in trouble because they say uterus. Even guys have different ways of explaining uterus by saying pussy or other nicknames, but it is not okay to say uterus. I really like how they expressed themselves while singing it was good to see. They are so happy and filled with life at their age. They are not scared of speaking up for themselves. I enjoyed watching them and I would see them again. After the raging grannies we had to march around the school campus at 1:10-1:50 pm so people around us can see what we have to say. I had a poster that said food for all which was the topic for homelessness. Since Fresno is the poorest nation and there is a lot of poverty around us everyone deserves to eat. I saw other posters around me talking about women equality, or adopt do not shop for pets. It was insightful to see what others had in mind and I really enjoyed walking around the school so people around us can see what we have to say. It is not always good to stay quiet if we something wrong in society we have to speak up for ourselves and make sure changes are made. That can be the only way to have society change with us, by changing and influencing minds of other for the better.
