This was the first time being part of a social movement. I have never done any of the social movement tactics. Although this was all new to me as a group we decided to take a familiar approach to our social movement. We decided to create an Instagram page to help spread the word of our current social movement. This was the only tactic that I had not done but still knew exactly how to go about it due to the fact that I know how Instagram operates.

We first decided to set up the Instagram page when we started taking pictures of things that we were doing. We were making efforts to spread information pertaining to our cause and while doing this we were taking pictures. By creating the Instagram page we had a perfect place to display our efforts. Since we were taking pictures in every other event we could easily put them up on our page.

Another great thing was that once the Instagram page was up we could begin advertising that as well. At every event we conducted we gave out the name our Instagram page. This way people who were interested in our social movement could later go check it out or check ou the page right then and there if they own a smart phone which most do. An example of how we advertised our Instagram page was by writing @FRESNOSTATESTART on all our materials no matter what event.

Creating our Instagram page was really awesome. We took the opportunity to use a tool of our generation to promote our social movement. We understood exactly how to manage the page and thought it would be perfect to show our progress. The only thing I would like to have done is to have had more people follow our page. This could have been done by personally spreading the word.
