CAPE (Table)

Table

On March 4th Citizens Advocating for Pre-Trial Expansion set up a table along with the other groups in the free speech area. Before the event the group made brochures with information about what the group believed in and the change they would like to happen. We also came up with a mission statement that was read during the event. It felt good to be a part of something and actually felt important to get involved in something that may stir up some change and get others involved. We handed out brochures to students who walked by. When the table was set we got to work, the timing was ideal because a lot of students were getting out of class and we were able to inform a several who stopped about our cause. It was great to get the attention of students as they showed interest by asking us what we were about because we made them curious and they wanted to know more. Not a lot of people know about the pre-trial expansion program and how they are affected by it. If they were informed they would be interested and want to get involved to promote change. During the event each group got together are and said their mission statement for spectators to hear. The entertainment entertainment and refreshments was what people stopped for and we were then able to speak to them about our cause. It was exciting and very energizing to be involved in the activity. At the table we had information about pre-trial expansion and some preferred to just take the information and continue to their destination while others stopped and listened to the information we were more than wiling to share. Some individuals were shocked and interested in finding out more and how they can help.
